The Sacramento Kings suffered through a terrible start en route to one of their worst offensive performances of the season, and ended up with a 107-94 loss at the New Orleans Pelicans.
After scoring just four points in the first 6+ minutes, the Kings (30-22) failed to hit the century mark for the first time in 34 games. Sacramento, which lost its third in a row, shot 41.8% to the Pelicans’ 47.1%.
Domantas Sabonis led the Kings with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sacramento was without De’Aaron Fox for the second straight contest. Trey Murphy Jr. scored 30 to lead the Pelicans.

The Kings never trailed as the Pelicans scored the first eight points. It was 22-4 a little more than six minutes in. New Orleans led by as many as 22 in the first quarter at 32-10, and went into the first break with a 35-18 advantage.
The Kings got the deficit down to nine points twice in the second quarter, but at 42-33, the Pelicans went on an 11-0 run to push the lead back up to 20. It was 58-37 at halftime.
Sacramento couldn’t make a dent in the deficit in the third quarter, falling behind by as many as 22 once again. It was 79-60 after three periods.
The Kings showed a bit of life in the fourth quarter, scoring 34 points after not getting more than 22 in any of the first three. Two baskets by Sabonis and one by Keegan Murray made it an eight-point game at 93-85 with under four minutes to play. But the Pelicans scored the next five points and kept a double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest.
