2/6/23: Sacramento 111, Houston 84

The Sacramento Kings snapped a three-game losing streak with their best defensive performance of the season, as they continued their road trip with a 111-84 victory at the Houston Rockets.

The 84 points allowed were a season low for the Kings (31-22). They held the Rockets to 43.8% shooting and just four three-pointers.

De’Aaron Fox returned to the court after missing the last two games and had a game-high 27 points, 22 coming in the first half. Domantas Sabonis had 22 points and 13 rebounds. Keegan Murray and Terence Davis both had 12.

The Rockets were led by Jabari Smith Jr.’s 19 points. This was the first of two consecutive games in Houston.

The Kings never trailed in the contest. They doubled up the Rockets at 20-10 less than seven minutes in. It was 36-23 at the end of the first quarter.

The Kings continued to pour it on in the second quarter, scoring another 33 points. They led by as many as 29 and took a 69-44 lead at halftime.

Sacramento’s offense wasn’t as good in the second half, but it didn’t need to be with the defensive effort. The Kings outscored the Rockets 21-20 in both the third and fourth quarters. Sacramento’s biggest lead of the game was 109-76 late in the contest.
