3/24/23: Phoenix 116, Sacramento 101

Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns took advantage of a poor first half by the Sacramento Kings, and the Suns romped to a 116-101 road victory.

The Kings (43-30) never led and were outscored 60-46 in the first half as Booker scored 30 of his 37 points.

The Kings had six players score in double-figures, but no more than Domantas Sabonis’ 19 points. He also had team highs of 14 rebounds and six assists.

Booker helped Phoenix take an early 10-point lead at 16-6. It was 30-25 after the first quarter. The advantage went back up to 10 at 37-27, and the Suns led by as many as 18 at 52-34 after a 13-2 run in which Booker provided seven points. It was 60-46 at halftime.

The Suns went up by 20 at 76-56 and took their biggest lead of the game at 23 points at 95-72 late in the third quarter. It was 97-78 heading to the final period.

The Kings showed some life at the start of the fourth quarter, going on a 10-0 run, with six points by Davion Mitchell, to cut the deficit to nine at 97-88. The Kings would get within seven points at 106-99 with less than four minutes to go, but wouldn’t score for the next three minutes.
