Game #37 — Asheville 10, SoCal 1

Fred Clarke had an RBI triple in the first inning to tie the game at one. That would be the extent of the Hornets’ offense, as the Otters scored the next nine runs. Winning pitcher Bill Dinneen retired the final 15 batters he faced. Bill Bernhard fell to 2-6.

Game #38 — SoCal 10, Asheville 0

Bill Reidy (4-4) was unbelievable again, as he gave up just four hits and zero walks. The Otters were still able to put runners in scoring position in four different innings, but Reidy pitched out of every jam. The Hornets had a 3-0 lead after six innings and then put together a seven-run, six-hit seventh inning, which included two-run doubles by both Fred Clarke and Dick Padden. Reidy also shut out Asheville in the first meeting this season.
