3/27/23: Minnesota 107, Sacramento 94

The Sacramento Kings continued their recent trend of following up great performances with terrible efforts, and the result here was a 107-94 home loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Kings (44-31) managed just 38 points in the first half and fell behind by 25 points at the break. Sacramento shot 41.2% from the field, one of their worst nights of the season.

De’Aaron Fox scored a team-high 21 points but on 9-for-25 shooting. Malik Monk had 16 points off the bench. Minnesota was led by Anthony Edwards’ 25 points and Mike Conley’s 23 points.

The Kings only led 4-3. Minnesota went up by double-digits at 28-17 late in the first quarter and it was 35-21 at the end of the period. The Kings got the deficit down to eight at 39-31 and 41-33, but would trail the rest of the game by double-figures. It was 63-38 at halftime.

Minnesota’s biggest lead was 28 points at 70-42 early in the third quarter. The Kings showed some life in getting the deficit down to 13 at 74-61 after a 14-2 run. But the Timberwolves pushed the lead back up to 84-63 at the end of the third quarter. Sacramento got within 10 points at 95-85 with under four minutes to play but no closer.
