The red-hot San Francisco Giants bashed their way to their first series sweep of the season, as they won all three at the Minnesota Twins. The Giants hit seven home runs, three of them by Matt Chapman, giving him a team-high 10 homers after 41 games.
The Giants lost all three of these games in real life, but the three wins here pulls them within two games of their real-life 41-game record. It’s the first time all season the Giants have been above .500 at the conclusion of a series. San Francisco has won 10 of its last 12 games.

May 9 (9-3 win): The Giants scored twice in the third inning to open the scoring, including a solo homer by Willy Adames. But the Twins tied it in the fifth on Byron Buxton’s two-run home run. San Francisco regained the lead with four runs in the sixth inning on a two-run double by Heliot Ramos and a two-run single by LaMonte Wade. Matt Chapman and Wilmer Flores then hit back-to-back homers in the seventh to make it 9-2. Jordan Hicks improved to 3-2.

May 10 (5-1 win): The Twins’ Byron Buxton led off the bottom of the first with a solo homer off of Logan Webb. That would be the last hit for the Twins. Webb (4-3) retired the next 12 hitters, then gave up only two walks in his eight innings of work. Randy Rodriguez pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to polish off the one-hitter. Matt Chapman homered twice, a solo blast in the second inning and a two-run shot in the sixth.
