7/11-13/2025: Los Angeles at San Francisco

The Giants won a series for the first time since June 26, and they did it against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers after winning two of three games. It’s the second time the Giants have gone 2-1 against the eventual World Series champions.

At the All-Star break, the Giants are 52-45, the same record they were in real life.

In 2025, Logan Webb, Robbie Ray and Randy Rodriguez made the All-Star Game. Webb has been far better than he was in real life, and at 13-4 with a 2.31 ERA, he’s probably the All-Star Game starter. At 8-7 with a 4.33 ERA, Ray might not make it this time around. Rodriguez has been the best among a host of excellent Giant relievers, so he still probably makes it with his 1.62 ERA in 39 innings.

Does Willy Adames make it despite his .237 batting average? With 21 doubles and 25 home runs, he’s got a .510 slugging percentage, and he’s driven in a team-best 58 RBI. None of the other Giant regulars in the lineup have really stood out.

July 11 (6-2 win): Logan Webb won his fourth straight start, and he’s 8-1 in his last nine starts. He only had one bad pitch in his six innings of work, a third-inning two-run homer by Shohei Ohtani. But the Giants were already ahead 6-0 at that point. In the bottom of the first, the Giants opened with three straight singles, the last one by Rafael Devers driving in a run. Matt Chapman then had a sacrifice fly and Willy Adames followed with a two-run homer. In the second inning, Devers hit a two-run homer.

July 12 (2-1 win): Shohei Ohtani homered for the second straight game, a solo shot that gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning. The Giants tied it in the bottom of the seventh. Mike Yastrzemski doubled with two outs and scored on a Heliot Ramos single. It was 1-1 heading to the bottom of the ninth. Casey Schmitt led off with a double. Dominic Smith attempted to sacrifice him to third base. Dodger catcher Dalton Rushing picked up the bunt and threw to third base, but his throw sailed into left field and Schmitt came around to score the winning run in a walk-off victory. Tyler Rogers picked up his fourth win out of the bullpen.
