The San Francisco Giants used the long ball to win two of three from the Baltimore Orioles to close out the month of August and end a streak of four straight series losses.
At 75-62, the Giants just need to do better than 6-19 in September to wrap up the replay with a record better than their actual 81-81 mark.
Three Giants had multiple home runs in the series, including Drew Gilbert, who came into the series batting 1-for-31 on the season, but recorded five hits in eight at-bats (.625) against the Orioles.

August 29 (11-3 win): Casey Schmitt and Matt Chapman both hit a pair of home runs, and Drew Gilbert hit one, to power the Giants to the victory. Schmitt had a two-run homer in the second inning and a solo blast in the third, giving him 13 on the season. Chapman had two-run blasts in both the third and seventh innings, increasing his season total to 24. Gilbert had a solo homer in the second inning among his three hits (he was 1-for-31 at the plate before this game). Robbie Ray struck out 10 in six innings and improved to 13-7.

Dominic Smith hit a grand slam in a five-run sixth inning, his sixth homer of the season. Drew Gilbert had a three-run blast in the eighth inning.
