Sept. 1 (9-3 loss): The Giants quickly went up 2-0 on Dominic Smith’s two-run double in the top of the first. But starter Kai-Wei Teng couldn’t get out of the first inning, giving up six runs on six hits. Brenton Doyle made it 9-2 Colorado in the fourth with a three-run homer. The Giants added a run in the eighth on Matt Chapman’s solo homer, his 25th of the season.

Sept. 2 (6-3 win): Both teams had a good first inning again. Heliot Ramos and Willy Adames hit solo homers for the Giants, their 15th and 33rd, respectively. Colorado then got a two-run homer from Hunter Goodman. It stayed 2-2 until the sixth inning. The Giants scored four runs on five hits, including a two-run single by Ramos, and RBI singles by Rafael Devers and Adames. The rally enabled Logan Webb to pick up his 18th win of the season.
