Sept. 5 (2-1 win): The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Jose Fermin’s RBI single. St. Louis wouldn’t score again, despite putting multiple runners on base three more times. The Giants finally tied it in the sixth inning on a Casey Schmitt solo homer, his 15th. In the eighth, Dominic Smith led off with a double and he scored what turned out to be the game-winning run on Jung Hoo Lee’s single.
