Mexico wrapped up group play with a perfect 3-0 record to win group A, just as they did in real life. Switzerland finished with seven points to win group B, just as they did in real life. But the big change came in Group C, where Morocco edged Brazil for first place.
Another big change: Canada didn’t finish second behind Switzerland. They were third in their group behind Bosnia-Herzegovina. With four points, Canada should still advance. Despite a 3-1 loss to Switzerland, Canada was minutes away from taking second in the group, but B&H scored twice late to beat Qatar 4-2.
Ismael Saibari was the player of the day, netting a hat trick in Morocco’s 6-1 win over Haiti, collecting goals by penalty kick, free kick and in the run of play.
